Purpose. The purpose of the Llanfechain History Society is: ‘To collate, research and maintain a history of Llanfechain.’ Our hope is that this endeavour will be of interest and will engage many in the village; and be of value to those who live here in the future.

We have compiled details of some of the events that have occurred in Llanfechain over the years, and hope that these will inspire you to come forward with further information, photographs, articles, or anything which will add to our knowledge of our village. These details are not intended to be all embracing and will be added to from time to time as we collect more information.

Please feel free to contact us with any corrections, and with any information that you feel should be included.

Look under the heading of Current Research to see what areas are being worked on at the present.

Click on the menu dates above to go to that page. You will then find a summary of that period. Clicking on the links within the summary will then take you to more detail/research.

New Information.   After any initial information is uploaded further information will be entered in green so that you can identify new input. Every three months the website will be edited and changed to black print; any information received in the following three months will again be entered in green allowing you to easily identify new input.   Questions raised by the editing team will be entered in red with the intention of encouraging further research or information input.

No Computer! Acknowledging that not everyone has access to the website, the society will, from time to time, produce a paper summary of certain aspects of the history, and will highlight ongoing research.

Managing/Editorial Team.  To ensure the web page history grows in some logical and readable form a small managing/editorial team will run the webpages.  The team is:

  1. Philip Williams, The Old Talbot, Phone: 828931.            email: philw49@hotmail.com
  2. John Mainwaring. Tirionfa, Phone: 829220. email: tosh7@sky.com
  3. Steve Roberts, The Plas yn Dinas. Phone 828380.

Please contact any of the above if you have any historical information (e.g. the history of a particular building or family) you feel you might like to share, or if you would like to do a specific research project. We would also welcome others to join us on the Editorial Team.
