This period covers the First World War, which was followed by immense social change to which Llanfechain was not immune.

 
1914-18           First World War, there are 10 men from the 1914 – 18 war commemorated on the village war memorial.
1928                The village WI was founded  with Mrs Openshaw of Brongain being its first President.
